Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his admiration for Amphipolis tomb

He referred to area’s rich cultural heritage

During his four-day visit to Thrace, northern Greece, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited Orestiada and referred to area’s rich cultural heritage.

Bartholomew was welcomed at the Orestiada Square by Metropolitan Damaskinos of Didymoticho, Orestiada and Soufli and political, church and armed forces representatives.

He referred to the area’s rich ecclesiastical history and to the historical and strong connections it had with the Ecumenical Patriarchate, while he expressed his admiration for the tomb discovered in Amphipolis.
