Ottoman-era Edirne mosque on the European side of Turkey is being lit up. Fitted with extra lighting, the Selimiye Mosque will be so bright that people will be able to see it from the Greek and and Bulgarian towns that are 20km away.
During a press conference, Edirne Province Governor Dursun Ali Sahin said that the 2,600 lighting fixtures to be installed on the mosque’s dome and courtyard will make it visible from 100 km away.
