Explosion at Athens hotel on Vouliagmenis causes extensive damage

Authorities seek perpetrators

An improvised explosive device (IED) caused extensive damage to the front of a hotel on Litous street, off Voulaigmeni Avenue when it went off at around 5.10am on Monday morning. The perpetrators had placed the IED at the side entry of the hotel and were able to escape unnoticed. Authorities are examining CCTV footage to identify the culprits, while officers of the anti-bomb squad were called on the scene and collected residue from the explosive mechanism.
