A fire broke out in the residential area of Stamata shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The fire report states that the fire is burning pine trees and shrubs in the area, 1 km from the main town on the road towards Marathon.

Firemen are concerned over the heavy winds in the region though by 12.15 p.m. they managed to get the fire under control.

45 firemen with 18 trucks along with two helicopters and two Canadairs are aiming to put out the fire.
