Five killed in deadly Canadian school shooting

Student open fired at other students and teachers

A student with a gun allegedly stormed La Loche Community School in Saskatchewan, Canada, around 1 p.m., after shooting his two younger brothers at home. A total of five people were killed in the shooting spree.

The town’s acting mayor Kevin Janvier told The Associated Press his 23-year old daughter Marie, a teacher, was shot dead by the gunman. She was his only daugter and was not aware if the shooter knew his daughter. “He shot two of his brothers at his home and made his way to the school,” he said. “I’m just so sad.”

Eye-witnesses state the shooter was yelling as police tried to calm him down.

The suspected was arrested and his weapon was seized.

“The country’s heart is breaking,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said after the shooting.
