The GQ British website visited Athens, Greece and wrote about a weekend experience in the Greek capital.
“The typical British traveller to Greece visits a Greek island, and why not: the “must visit” list includes the beautiful beaches of Zakynthos, the hellenic ruins of Delos, the manic nightlife of Mykonos, the gorgeous views of Santorini, the cuisine of Crete… the list goes on. What you might not know is that you can experience almost everything the Greek islands have to offer in Athens and along the Athenian Riviera” says the article.
As it is mentioned, Athens has a long history since it has been continually occupied by people for the last 7,000 years and it is quite impossible not th come across to ancient ruins while you’re walking around the city.
The article mentions the Mediterranean climate referring to Mountain Parnassos ski resort which is two hours away adding that it’s the one of the only places in Europe you can go skiing in the morning and swimming on the beach in the afternoon.
It also recommends to its readers to visit Acropolis, Parthenon and the Theatre of Dionysus, to have a “quick Souvlaki in the old city nearby (Plaka)” and definitely visit National Gardens in the center of the city.
