Greece beat Australia to advance to water polo semis

A place for the final up for grabs against Croatia

The Greek state should take some pointers on how to be successful by the country’s national sports teams. After the U18 men’s basketball team conquered top spot in the Euro2015 basketball tournament Sunday, it was the turn of the men’s national water polo team to clinch a berth in the semi-finals of the FINA world championship in Kazan, Russia. The Greek team beat Australia on penalties in a closely fought battle which ended in a 7-7 draw after regular time. The Greek team managed to equalize 7 seconds before full-time and won on a penalty shoot-out 5-4. Greece will face Croatia on Thursday night (8:30 Greek time) for a place in the final. Well done.
