Greek contingency plan aimed at corrupt German companies

An eye for an eye in the world of finances

Greece had a contingency plan to open corruption investigations into German companies so as to “raise the cost of rupture” for Greece’s creditors. The targeted companies included Siemens, Lidl and Allianz.

Efimerida ton Syntakton on Saturday sited government officials under the condition of anonymity who stated that the plan included opening corruption probes. “In basketball terms, the government would apply ‘pressure defense,” reports the periodical.

The plan included nationalizing the Greek gaming monopoly OPAP after it was privatized in 2013.
