Greek-Cypriot leaders talk on the phone on Greek issue

The two men spoke, hoping to find a solution that would break the deadlock

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades late on Monday spoke on the phone with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. The two men exchanged views on the latest developments regarding the Greek issue.

Government spokesman Nikos Christodoulides hinted that the contact was made ahead of the phone contact of the Cypriot president with EU officials and leaders on the Greek issue. Christodoulides underlined that the Cypriot President wants to achieve what everyone wants – an agreement even at this late stage that would ensure that Greece would remain in the eurozone.
