Greek PM Tsipras to deliver eulogy at Castro funeral services (video)

Greek PM the only European leader attending proceedings

Newsroom November 29 01:36

Greek PM Alexis Tsipras will be one of the leaders delivering a eulogy during Fidel Castro’s funeral services, Tuesday in Cuba to take place at Revolution Square. The Greek PM arrived in the capital Havana, Tuesday and said he felt honoured and moved to be taking part in the commemorations for the deceased former President-dictator of Cuba. Mr. Tsipras is the only European leader attending the services, as the EU countries sent second or third tier representatives. According to the Greek government’s spokesperson Dimitrios Tzanakopoulos, Mr. Tsipras will be one of the few world leaders to deliver a speech at the event at 7pm local time. Upon arriving in Havana, the Greek PM expressed his honour and deep feelings to be in Cuba and pay tribute to a great leader who had inspired not only the Cuban people but all the peoples of Latin America. “Now matter how far apart peoples are they are united by common values and common vissions”, Tsipras stressed. He went on to say that the value of social justice and social liberation united all peoples.
