Greek Sport Min. Kontonis postpones Cup Final for security reasons, even though no fans would be at stadium!

Real reason is reportedly dispute over appointment of referees

Greek Deputy Minister for Sports Stavros Kontonis decided the postponement of the Greek Football Cup final, Friday. Kontonis justified his decision by citing a police report, according to which the Greek police were unable to guarantee the match would take place smoothly, despite the fact that it would be held without fans! The police report stated that due to the 48-hour general strike in Greece it lacked sufficient police officers to deploy to the Athens Olympic Stadium (OAKA), where the match was scheduled to take place. According to sources, however, the real reason for the postponement of the final is purportedly the problem with the Greek referees, who are under the control of the Greek Football Federation. The Federation decided to appoint two assistant referees that Kontonis was promised would not be included in the final.
