IMF top officials doubt Greece’s 2015 GDP surplus estimations, reports WSJ

The numbers don’t tell the true story of the Greek economy, says report

According to a report by financial newspaper ‘Wall Street Journal’, high ranking officials at the IMF doubt the assessment that Greece has a achieved a primary GDP surplus between 0.2 and 0.4 in 2015. The report says that while Eurostat is expected to announce the final results for the Greek economy in April, the IMF claims the country’s economy is in much worse shape than the numbers show. It suggests the primary surplus achieved was a result of the Greek state refraining from paying some of its debts to suppliers. The article adds that the new round of mistrust between Greece and the IMF after the wikileaks revelations will hinder the review of the country’s adjustment program even further.
