Is Kos a ‘disgusting hellhole’? Daily Mail readers think so! (photos + video)

Straggly migrants, starving barefoot toddlers and public breastfeeding sessions was not what they had paid to see when they booked their cheap package deal

On the heels of a Telegraph report claiming that Turkish border guards were allowing huge members of Syrian asylum seekers to cross into Europe aboard holiday ferries serving the Greek islands, comes a report in the Daily Mail asking: “How many more can Kos take? Holidaymakers’ misery as boat people from Syria and Afghanistan seeking asylum set up migrant camp to turn popular Greek island into ‘disgusting’ hellhole.”

The article casts the spotlight on the current situation on the island where British families are relaxing on their sun lounges on the beach just yards away from the scores of migrants that “have set up camp, sleeping on cardboard boxes with rubbish strewn everywhere.” Anne Servante, a nurse from Manchester, said that her summer vacation turned into a nightmare with penniless, starving migrants just outside their restaurant watching them eat.The couple, who have been heading to the island for almost 10 years, thought it was “disgusting” that the atmosphere on the island has changed.

“We won’t come back if it’s a refugee camp again next year,” said another British couple on holiday with their grandchildren. They line up with the other British and Dutch families for ice-cream while groups of young men squat under a tree.

But where are the Greeks?
