A heart-wrenching photo has been making the Internet rounds over the last few days, showing a small child “surrendering” to a photographer after mistaking his camera for a weapon.
The image, which was taken by Turkish photojournalist Osman Sagirli, went viral earlier this week when it was tweeted by Palestian photojournalist Nadia Abu Shaban, under the caption: “Thought he has a weapon not a camera, so she gave up”.
The child has been identified as Adi Hudea, a 4-year-old Syrian girl who lost her father in the 2012 Hama massacre. The photo was taken at the Atmen refugee camp on Syria’s border with Turkey last December.
