Two of three notorious bank robbers arrested; third commits suicide

First reports say ‘Public Enemy No. 1’ Paleokostas involved

Three armed robbery suspects and convicted felons were detected and surrounded by police commandos on Friday in seaside holiday residence in central Greece, with two arrested and the third reportedly committing suicide instead of being apprehended.
Fugitives Spyros Christodoulou and Giorgos Petrakakos surrendered without incident, while Spyros Dravillas was found dead in the house with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The trio is linked with Greece’s “Public Enemy No. 1”, prison escapee, bank robber and kidnap-for-ransom mastermind Vassilis Paleokostas

Dravillas was one of the suspects that allegedly assisted in Paleokostas’ escape from an Athens area prison with a stolen helicopter.

All three men were wanted for a major bank heist in the central town of Distomo, while they are also suspected of other bank robberies with Paleokostas and currently jailed urban terrorist Nikos Maziotis.
