Meimarakis: No magic solutions, I won’t tear up memorandums if elected

ND leader continues frantic pace of public appearances ahead of Sept. 20 election

“Tsipras went to negotiate unprepared, and in the end he vied for and brought back the worse,” was the way conservative New Democracy president Evangelos Meimarakis referred to his main rival, Alexis Tsipras, during a television appearance on Thursday evening, as candidates continue to make numerous public appearances on a daily basis until the Sept. 20 election.
Asked if ND had a program to immediately implement if it won the upcoming election, he answered in the affirmative, although he was quick to point out that “there are no magic solutions … I am not going to tear up the memorandums, however, I will attempt to get an agreement with the other parties in order to ‘water down’ the secondary issues. In every case, we’ll exploit the mandate that citizens will hand us,” he told two presenters on the Athens-area television station “Kontra”.
