Amphipolis: Marble doorway and metallic nails found in the third chamber

Besides the bronze and iron nails, the most important find was three sections of a marble gate

New findings shed some light on the mystery of the Amphipolis Tomb.

After removing soil in the third chamber, three sections of a marble gate have been uncovered. The gate is made from Thassos marble, just like the rest of the pieces in the find, while according to archaeologists the discovery is certainly a tomb.

It is also referred to a “standard form of Macedonian, Greek tomb”.

The door “hinge” has also been discovered.

The soil of the third chamber also held a find of bronze and iron nails.
