Nightmare nanny burnt child, aged 3, ignoring screams

The prosecutor said it was the worst video she had ever seen in her career

Nanny Lidia Quilligana was arrested in Danbury, Connecticut, last month after a hidden camera captured moments of violence as she choked and beat a 3-year-old girl in her care before proceeding to burn the toddler’s legs, arms and hands. The toddler screamed out in pain and torture.

The girl’s family had set up the hidden camera because of the young child’s behavior raising suspicions that there may have been foul play. The nanny had been working with the family for a year before the scenes were shot in December 2014.

Despite the evidence, the nanny’s defense lawyer said that the nanny knew she was being filmed and that the charges  of first degree assault of a child under 10 years of age and criminal mischief were false. Four other families wrote letters of support to the nanny stating she was trustworthy.

The court prosecutor said it was the ‘worst video’ she had seen in her career and set bail at $1 million. The nanny will appear in court again on April 22.
