US President Barack Obama phoned new Greek PM Alexis Tsipras on Wednesday to convey his congratulations over the latter’s election victory on Sunday, and to offer advise on dealing with the rigors of office!
Obama reportedly advised Tsipras to rest up after his arduous election effort, so as to avoid a premature graying of his hair — a phenomenon all too evident in Obama’s first term in office.
“It is difficult as there are many obligations ahead,” was the Greek prime minister’s response.
On the more official level, the US President reportedly declared his support for Europe’s efforts to leave behind austerity-driven policies and boost growth, while he cited cooperation between his administration and European partners on the economic front.
