Lighthouse Tourlitis of Andros first operated in 1887 and was renovated in 1994. It was the first automatic lighthouse of Greece where the lighthouse keeper could observe the functioning from a distance without having to reside there. Another thing that makes it unique is that it is built on a rock out into the sea, just opposite the Venetian castle in the capital of Andros (Chora). For more Greek lighthouses, CLICK HERE.
