PM denies ‘parallel program’ was withdrawn

Greek PM’s office condemns the stand of the opposition

An announcement issued by the office of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras stated that the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) government’s draft bill for a ‘parallel program’ has not been withdrawn. The statement condemned the “irresponsible” stand of the three opposition parties that walked out of the debate before the relevant Parliament committee on Wednesday.

The announcement said: “After the departure of the three parties from the Parliamentary process, with the groundless complaint that the draft bill tabled using urgent procedures created a fiscal burden and derailed the budget, equally groundless impressions were formed with a risk of creating obstacles to the negotiations and the government’s work for tackling the humanitarian crisis.”

Furthermore it was stated that the debate on the bill will continue using normal procedures foreseen by Greek Parliament at the start of the year.
