Police uses chemicals to disperse protest march over refugees (Video)

Protesters screamed slogans against the refugees’ presence on the island

Police in Chios used teargas on Wednesday to disperse opposition citizens who demonstrated in the island’s square against the refugee’s issue.
The march started peacefully but turmoil was caused when the protesters headed towards local Souda refugee camp, where 1.800 refugees are staying.  The police tried to block the roads to the camp but the protesters tried to break through the police lines, after being annoyed by the presence of journalists covering the march. One of them was attacked by some of the protesters who threw his camera on the ground.
150 protesters managed to head to Souda refugee camp and screamed slogans against the refugees’ presence on the island.
