Poll: SYRIZA would win elections if they were held today

Half of those questioned believe Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is suited to his job

The Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) is 21% ahead of the main conservative opposition party according to an opinion poll by Macedonia University on behalf of SKAI TV measuring voting intent.

The survey states that 36.5% of those polled chose SYRIZA over ND (15.5%). Centrist Potami and ultranationalist Golden Dawn gathered 6% of the votes each, followed by the Greek Communist Party (KKE, 4%), Independent Greeks (ANEL, 3%) and the socialist PASOK party (3%).

The majority of those questioned said that Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was suited to his job with 50% favoring him in his position, followed by ANEL leader Panos Kammenos that gathered 25.5% of the votes. Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis was preferred as PM by 22.5%, followed by KKE leader Dimitris Koutsoumbas (15%), main opposition former ND prime minister Antonis Samaras (15.5%) and last of all, PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos (13.5%).
