(UPD-15.30) Queen Rania of Jordan in Lesvos (photos+video)

Scheduled to visit a refugeee camp

The Queen of Jordan, Rania is on the island of Lesvos where she visited two refugee families, one from Afghanistan and the other from Syria. Her plabe landed on the island of Lesvos according to schedule at 12.30 am. The prefect of the norther Aegean region, Christiana Kalogirou,  greeted her with warm words, thanking her for ‘the spirit of sensitivity and solidarity she brings to the island of Lesvos’.  The Queen then left for the refugee camp of ‘Kara Tepe’, where she interacted with the children and refugees. Dressed in simple clothes she was very open and friendly with the people who gathered around to greet her, while she had a special rapport with the children. The Queen of Jordan is the latest renowned person to visit the island to send a message of solidarity to the refugee and shed bring attention to their suffering. Before her Pope Francis, UN Special envoy and famous actress Angelina Jolie and her colleague Susan Sarandon all visited Lesvos with the same goal. According to press release issued by the Royal palace, Queen Rania make a statement to the media upon the completion of her visit on Lesvos. Her visit lasted for 2 hours.
