Protesters demand tearing down border fence in northern Greece

In order to allow refugees to cross borders by land instead of risking their lives travelling by the sea

A group of about 600 protesters clashed with police guarding the border fence in Evros, northern Greece on Saturday, following the numerous sea accidents which have caused the death of dozens refugees, while authorities warn that the death toll will rise in coming weeks.

The demonstrators are demanding the Greek government to tear down the fence and allow refugees to cross borders by land instead of risking their lives travelling by the sea in their efforts to reach Europe.
