Public transport strikes in Trains, buses and trams in Athens

Workers protest omnibus bill

Public transport in Athens and Piraeus will not be available due to strikes and work stoppages called by workers unions, Thursday. More specifically, trains will remain idle between 11am and 4pm Thursday, due to work stoppages, while trams and city busses will not run from 11am till 5pm. The workers decided to take industrial action in protest to the omnibus bill passed in Greek parliament this week. They claim public transport should retain its public character and not be handed over to the private sector.
