Putin does not respond to Erdogan’s calls

Putin argues that Turkey has not called him to apologize – Erdogan said he has called, but Russian President has not called him back

Tension between Russia and Turkey has escalated after Russian Foreign Ministry advised Russian citizens to leave Turkey and Kremlin threatened with economic retaliations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin argues that Turkey has not called him to apologize for shooting down the Russian jet. However, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan denies the allegations of his Russian counterpart saying that Putin is the one who does not answer his calls.

In an interview with the French network France24, Mr. Erdogan said: “I called Mr. Putin. But up to now, he has not returned my call”.

Earlier, though, he had stressed that there is no reason for Turkey to apologize saying that Turkey is not the one who should apologize. “Those who violated my airspace should apologize. Our pilots and armed forces just did their duty” he said.

President of Turkey, though, expressed his intention for reconciliation  despite the fact that Putin doesn’t respond to his calls adding that if they had known that the jet was Russian, they would have acted differently.
