The state-run Russian news agency on Sunday announced that the Kremlin is “… is looking into the possibility of delivering energy to Greece directly…”.
The news site quotes Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak as saying the idea aims to “renew” the crisis-hit country’s economy.
“The Russian Federation plans to support the renewal of the Greek economy by expanding its cooperation in the energy sector. We are studying the possibility of organizing direct deliveries of energy to the Greek government to begin in the near future,” Novak said, without specifying the type of “energy”.
Russian natgas is already funneled into Greece via a pipeline through Bulgaria.
Despite the current urgent situation in Greece’s negotiations with European partners, the Russian minister said “… an agreement may be worked out in the next few weeks.”
