Schauble says Greece done better than expected

ECB should be open to criticism, he says during conference

During his speech at a conference in Berlin, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble said Greece was recovering faster than what most had expected. The German Finance Minister stressed, however, that Greece needed a functional public administration. Schauble commented on the monetary policies followed by the European Central Bank (ECB), noting that the central bank’s responsibility for overseeing the economy of the whole Eurozone meant it could not promote the most beneficial policies for Germany. ‘All the institutional bodies, including the ECB, should be open to public scrutiny’, said Schauble.
