Schools in Attica, Peloponnese, western Greece, Kefalonia & Zakynthos closed due to extreme weather

The decision was taken as a precautionary measure

All primary and secondary schools in the Attica region will remain closed on Friday, September 28 due to the extreme weather conditions. Similarly, schools in the Peloponnese and the region of Western Greece will also stay closed, meaning schools in Corinthia, Arcadia, Argolis, Messinia and Laconia, Achaia, Ilia, Etoloakarnania will stay shut, while the schools in Zakynthos and Kefalonia will also remain closed.
The decision underlines that the functioning or not of kindergartens and nurseries is the responsibility of respective Municipal Authorities. This practically means that municipalities are the ones who have to decide whether or not nurseries and kindergartens will open.

According to the decision made by the Deputy Prefect of the Southern District of Athens, Christos Kapatai, due to the extraordinary weather phenomenon on Friday, September 28 all the schools and kindergartens in the municipalities of Agios Dimitrios, Alimos, Argyroupolis Ellinikon, Glyfada, Kallithea, Moschato – Tavros, Nea Smyrna and Paleo Faliro will not open.
