Six violations of Greek airspace by Turkish fighters in one hour

A pair of Turkish F-16 flew over the Greek islands of Oinousses and Panagia

Turkey continues challenging Greece’s sovereignity over the Aegean Sea with Turkish jets flying over Greek islands.

Athens recorded six violations of Greek airspace in Aegean Sea. A pair of Turkish F-16 flew over the Greek islands of Oinousses and Panagia located between Lesvos and Chios.

According to a statement issued by Defense Ministry, a pair of Turkish F-16 jets entered Athens FIR at 8:33 on Wednesday between the islands of Lesvos and Chios without submitting a flight plan and carrying out the following violations:

– 08:33, flew over Oinousses, at 5,500 feet

– 08:44, flew over Oinousses, at 22,500 feet

– 08:54, flew over Oinousses, at 25,500 feet

– 09:12, flew over Panagia, at 30,000 feet

– 09:24, flew over Panagia, at 30,000 feet

– 09:30, flew over Panagia, at 26,000 feet

The fighters exited Athens FIR at 9:31 north of Chios.

The Turkish aircrafts were identified and intercepted according to the relevant international rules and practices.
