SYRIZA and ND exchange accusations over property foreclosure issue

ND: SYRIZA has descended to new low

Newsroom October 13 08:34

The Greek government and major opposition party New Democracy (ND) are embroiled in a heated dispute over the ongoing property forecloses and the enraged response by property owners across the country, following the government’s plans to introduce amendments protecting main residence owners facing the threat of foreclosure. ND blasted ruling party SYRIZA in a statement, accusing it of employing communication tactics to address a serious problem in light of its party conference. The MP’s press office responded to the allegations by claiming ND was in panic mode and outright “lying” and “mad-slinging”, as the opposition party had accepted all types of property foreclosures in the past without exception. ND hit back with a new statement which said: “The government’s audacity and descent has no end”. Meanwhile, minor opposition party Democratic Alignment, also released a statement against SYRIZA, claiming the government was panicking over the people’s indignation over the property foreclosures and was trying to manage the situation by leaking information of new amendments regarding the main residence.
