Which is the biggest square in Greece and where is it? The answer is the Spianada Square and it is on an island: Corfu! It is not just the biggest square in Greece but of all the Balkans. It also is the 27th in the word!

σκ3
It covers a total of 84.000 sq.m. However, its size is not the only thing that is important, for it is also a historic square. Its name comes from the Italian word “spianare”, which means “to level down”. In 1576 it was decided that the buildings in front of the castle should be demolished for defensive reasons and to improve the…view they had. In 2,5 years about 2.500 buildings were demolished!
