The residents of the island of Ithaca were surprised to see an amazing mega yacht arriving at their port in the afternoon of Thursday.

KATARA, the vessel belonging to the Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani entered the picturesque port, while his helicopter was monitoring the area for possible threats.

According to sources, his associates immediately begun searching for a good taverna to enjoy fresh fish.

Shortly after 1:00 pm, the Emir with a company of eight persons went to the restaurant and ordered a variety of local dishes.

The Emir’s yacht KATARA is one of the World’s largest yachts and cost the Emir 900 million dollars (640 million euros). The yacht has a length of 124 meters (408 ft), making her the 15th largest yacht in the world, although measured by volume, she would rank much higher.

Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani’s love for the Ionian Islands is well-known. in fact, in March 2013 he bought the small Ionian island of Oxia for approximately 4.3 million euros. According to information, the Emir wants to transform this beautiful corner of the Ionian Sea into a Greek version of Capri island, that will include villages with different types of housing, hospitality and recreational areas, cultural sites and coastal zone with marine installations.
