The British newspaper Telegraph published a photographic tribute to the best beaches in the world which are located in cities. The Apollo Coast in Piraeus is ranked 6th among other famous beaches, such as Nice’s beach and Barcelona’s beach.
The article includes these beaches because of their beauty, but also because they are very close to the center of large cities.
The newspaper mentions that “Athens has a string of beaches which begin in Pireaus, known as the Apollo Coast, where holiday makers can swim in the Aegean Sea. Expansive beach-rimmed bays are only a short tram ride from the hub of the city centre.”
