Yanis’ chic residence up for lease following furor over Paris Match photoshoot

A tenant is sought for the exquisite home that Greece’s FinMin showed off in Paris Match… it’s just like in the shoot, minus Varoufakis!

Just as people were wondering what possessed the Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis and his wife Danae Stratou to open their home to Paris Match for a pretentious photo-shoot showcasing the couple’s haute lifestyle and the  neoclassical building directly across from the Acropolis, everything became clear.

The Paris Match shoot was just …free advertising for the residence, which was placed up for rent in various websites and a local paper.

The home featured in the Paris Match shoot is the family house of  Stratou. Would-be tenants able to fork out 1,700 euros per month can make it their new home … a bargain at 10 euros per square meter.

The classified ad reads:

“Acropolis flat 170 sq. meters, 1st floor, three bedrooms, built in 1930, three bathrooms, individual heating, natural gas, air conditioning, fireplace, excellent condition, in a trust building near the Acropolis Museum. It has three joint reception areas, a balcony that looks over a garden , open kitchen, light, 1,700 euros.”

The couple is now living in another apartment off Mavili Square, next to the US embassy in Athens.
