Greek political leaders are preparing to celebrate the feast of the Assumption of Mary on August 15, most of them with a mini-break to the Greek islands.

President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias will spend August 15 on the island of Lefkada , where he will visit the Church of Our Lady of Strangers.

Prime Minister, Antonis Samaras will spend the long weekend in his hometown of Pylos, while Deputy Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos will travel to Skopelos island.

The plans of the head of main opposition SYRIZA party, Alexis Tsipras for the long weekend have not yet been revealed.

Head of the Independent Greeks Panos Kamenos will celebrate the Assumption of Mary in the Sumela Monastery, a Greek Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary at Melá Mountain, in the Maçka district of Trabzon Province in modern Turkey.

DIMAR leader Fotis Kouvelis will spend the long weekend in Zakynthos.

Finally, the Secretary of the Communist Party Mr. Dimitris Koutsoubas will travel to Theologos town in Fthiotis region.
