Violence escalates between Turkey and PKK

Two Turkish security guards were killed and 24 wounded in a suicide bomb attack by Kurdish PKK militants, according to the Turkish regional office. According to Turkish state news agency Anadolu, the attack happened at 3 am local time near the town of Dogubayazit, close to Turkey’s borders with Iran, when a tractor laden with explosives was driven into a police station. Adadolu reports the tractor was loaded with 2 tons of explosives that were detonated by a suicide bomber. According to French news agency AFP this would be the first time PKK has deployed suicide bombing in its long conflict with Turkey.
