A manuscript of famous composer Sergei Rachmaninoff that was considered lsot for nearly a century is expected to be auctioned by Sotheby’s on the 20th of May.
The house’s appraisers estimate that the 320-page document signed by Rachmaninoff is expected to reach a price of up to 1.8 million euro.
It is the second time that the British auction house has tried to auction the specific document since the first attempt in 2004 was veto’d by one of the administrators of the composer’s estate.
The auction might even pose a new record with respect to the previous auction of Schumann’s Symphony No.2 in B Major handwriting which achieved a price tag 1.48 million British pounds.
