Composer Mikis Theodorakis will be honoured by Professionals Chamber of Athens as an outstanding personality of recent Greek history, according to a statement by the chamber, and he will be presented with a commemorating plaque on a date to be announced at a later time.

Chamber president Yiannis Chadzitheodosiou said that “generations and generations have grown up with Mikis Theodorakis’ music, and his life stance has become an example to follow. The least we can do is to honour this outstanding human being and artist, and we consider ourselves truly blessed that he remains an active citizen.”
The Chamber president added that the recognition was meant to act as a reminder that “in these difficult times it is useful for us all to draw strength and inspiration from personalities of such prestige and image”.
