Mykonos will be at the heart of Austrian interest, since, as part of an initiative to promote Greece as a tourist destination throughout the year, known show business names of Austria, representatives of three TV networks, 20 Austrian journalists and 14 managers of travel agencies will visit the island between the 7th and 9th of May.
At the initiative of the South Aegean region, the municipality of Mykonos, Austrian airline “Flyniki” and coorganized by the Austrian tourism board, the team of 52 members will be hosted and toured in Mykonos where it will hold recordings sessions in the alleys of Hora and the island’s beaches.
According to the Austiran tourism board, it is one of the biggest “familiarization trips” and the biggest tourist journalistic missions carried out this year in Greece and it is expected that Mykonos will be at the center of attention of Austrian media afterwards.
Flyniki has increased its flights program to nineteen destinations to Greece this year and aims to further expand it, while, for example, flights from Vienna to Kalamata will be taking place from late February to late October and flights to Santorini are daily.
It is noteworthy that its partner company “Air Berlin” uses Vienna as a hub for all its flights to Europe, where transit of passengers is made, many of whom will end up in Greece.
Air Berlin not only performs charter flights for tour operators but is also addressed to individual tourists offering flexibility of destinations and times of stay, so that, for example, anyone could have a weekend off in destinations such as Mykonos, Santorini and Heraklion all throughout 2014.
