Theodoros Pangalos accused SYRIZA of “making threats”. More specifically, in his new statements, he argued that Alexis Tsipras seeks to create turmoil.
According to Mr. Pangalos, “The argument put forward by SYRIZA, asking people to vote against the government to prevent bloodshed in Athens, is ridiculous”.
“For the first time the opposition in the country is non institutional, telling people to violate the Constitution and Greek laws” he said, adding that he wouldn’t have a problem recognizing Tsipras victory but, as he pointed out “the president of SYRIZA is now making threats, seeking to create turmoil”.
Also, referring to the dilemma posed by Evangelos Venizelos, about the withdrawal of the party from the government if the Olive Tree electoral alliance has a poor performance in the European Elections, Mr. Pangalos said that this “is irrelevant”.
As explained by the former minister, something similar happened in 2009 when Karamanlis lost the election to PASOK but, as Mr. Pangalos pointed out, “he stayed in power”.
