With a fierce attack on Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis, presenting the central pillars of his policy for Athens but with a rallying call to all, Aris Spiliotopoulos held his candidacy’s keynote speech.
The head of the “Athens, you can do it” combination presented the “Yeses” for the next day of elections, characterizing it as a referendum for a free Athens in the first round of elections on May 18th.
“We say ‘Yes’ to Athens’ rights. We say ‘Yes’ to Athenians’ rights. ‘Yes’ to the forgotten rights of citizens to live in a clean bright and safe city. ‘Yes’ to the rights of professionals who pay their taxes but have illegal trading taking place outside their shop. We say ‘Yes’ to the right to have a job. To living life with dignity. Not with what is left over from empty treasuries. These rights are forgotten by the “Counsel for an ungoverned state, Mr. Kaminis”, said Mr. Spiliotopoulos.
He even mentioned his intention to proceed with partnerships with the private sector to find resources for social services, continuing his assault on Mr. Kaminis, whom he accused of having done nothing during the last four years.
“I’ve already made moves for there to be a wave of partnerships with the private sector, with incentives for a new wave of grants to help address everyday issues. To properly take advantage of funds with transparency, and to create new sources of funding”, he said.
