A new debate among the candidates for the presidency of the European Commission has been scheduled for Thursday at 22.00 with the participation of Alexis Tsipras.
Jean-Claude Juncker, candidate of the European People’s Party, Martin Schulz, current President of the European Parliament and European Socialist candidate, Guy Verhofstadt, Liberal Democrats leader and a candidate of the same party, Ska Keller, candidate of the Green Party and Alexis Tsipras, SYRIZA leader and candidate of the Party of the European Left will participate.
The 23-year-old Irish journalist Conor McNally will be the Internet co-host.
The debate organized by the EBU in Brussels will last 90 minutes and will be broadcast across Europe from 49 TV stations, 38 online direct connections (live streaming) and 9 radios.
There will be a simultaneous interpretation in the 23 official EU languages.
The discussion will be moderated by Monica Maggioni, journalist and director of the Italian public channel RAI News 24.
Those who want to submit questions to the five candidates can send them via social media using hashtag # TellEUROPE.
400-600 people from different EU regions will attend the debate without, however, being able to be engaged in the discussion as they will not be allowed to make direct questions.
