To release social dynamics for the critical elections next Sunday, is the aim of SYRIZA, after tonight, with the completion of the first round of regional and municipal elections.
The main opposition party plays an “all or nothing” hand both Sundays, seeking to lead to rapid political developments, the fall of the government and early elections, as Alexis Tsipras has stated.
“The memorandum must end, and the debt negotiations should be made by us. At the same time we must restore democratic legitimacy in the country that has been shaken due to foreign interventions and a government which has been imposed through blackmail and false dilemmas”, says SYRIZA, responding to the rumours that the government is preparing early polls if it is clearly defeated in the Euro-elections.
According to SYRIZA staff, critical elements of the release of social dynamics are:
Firstly, to have Rena Dourou be a clear winner in Attica and exclude George Koumoutsakos, the New Democracy candidate, and verify SYRIZA’s dominance in the area.
Secondly, for Gabriel Sakellaridis to pass on to the second round, surpassing the ruling party’s candidate, Aris Spiliotopoulos. In a case in which Attica will be characterized by the presence of SYRIZA and not the New Democracy party will be overwhelming for Antonis Samaras, according to Mr. Tsipras’ colleagues.
Thirdly, for SYRIZA to have candidates in nine regions until next Sunday’s second round in order to demonstrate that the claim of change comes from everywhere, not just from urban centers.
