The government has reacted intensively towards SYRIZA since it continues to open up to those who voted the Golden Dawn candidates during the first round of elections and now they do not participate in the second round. The government accuses SYRIZA and its leader of allying with neo-Nazi.
It is not a coincidence that Prime Minister chose to adopt a strong anti-fascist attitude during yesterday’s visit in Crete, lashing out at supporters of Nazism and denouncing the tolerance towards them because of electioneering purposes.
Samaras : Fascism does not work here
Speaking at the main event for the 73th anniversary of the Battle of Crete, at a symbolic battleground during the Nazi invasion on the island, the airport of Maleme, Prime Minister said: “Here in the land of Eleftherios Venizelos the division does not work, the messages of hate are not rooted, here the Greeks fight,”.
Despite this, however, the leadership of SYRIZA continues to opening up to the voters of Golden Dawn.
Government : Tsipras moves on with Baltakos’s agenda
Mr Tsipras during a television interview with private TV channel SKAI said that “We do not believe that all those who voted Golden Dawn are neo-Nazis” adopting similar views expressed by the candidate of SYRIZA for Athens Municipality, Gabriel Sakallaridis, but also by its main members.
Also, concerning the Golden Dawn he argued that it is not an anti-systemic party, because “if it was, it would not negotiate with Baltakos,”.
While government officials criticize the opposition leader for adopting in public the “personal agenda” of the resigned secretary general of the Government, he insisted on saying that “The creators of the theory of two extremes, who try to make Golden Dawn and SYRIZA look the same, are not entitled to accuse SYRIZA because it wants to bring these people (note: the voters of Golden Dawn) in the democratic path,”.
Goudis supports Sakellaridis
However, the unofficial approach of SYRIZA towards Golden Dawn, as far as GD’s voters is concerned, was confirmed by one of the candidates in Kasidiaris’s combination, candidate Christos Goudis, who said that he is supporting the candidate of SYRIZA for Athens Municipality, causing the reaction government.
Moreover, Mr Fotis Kouvelis, the leader of Democratic Left party, called for “a democratic front against Nazi” and stressed that there should be no tolerance towards Golden Dawn party and members.
