Mr. Moralis stated that the citizens of Piraeus should now “put an end to the sloppiness and bad practices of the outbound mayor, Mr Michaloliakos”. He said, though, that there is a place at the next city council for Mr Michaloliakos but “at a process that will be unusual for him which I believe be able to make him change and believe in other political practices and logic according to which the mayor works for the municipality and not the other way around,”.

He stated that May 26 “is a new beginning, a new day, is Piraeus, that thinks collectively and acts locally”.

Mr Moralis stressed that if Piraeus becomes an International Maritime Centre, an international hub for Transport, Communications , Logistics and Trade and a Port for cruiseships, it will increase its revenue by 3 billion and create 35,000 new jobs over the next five years,».

Referring to the goals of the new municipal authority he said, among other, that Piraeus will become a world marine center, will claim to be European Capital of Culture 2021, the courts will remain in the city , 100 new businesses providing free services will be hosted for free at Retsina’s facilities, 10 new mini-bus will be added to the public transportation, there will be a comprehensive program of preventive medicine and primary care in all centers for elderly people, three new All Day nurseries will be opened.

Mr Moralis also stressed that the port of Pireaus is not for sell and sent a unity message “to all citizens of Piraeus, to all people who feel that the Piraeus collapses” and especially to young people asking them to “move on together for a Piraeus Winner,”.
