Business owners in Mykonos are increasingly using Greek folk music and dancing in order to attract tourists. Sirtaki and other traditional Greek folk dances which were considered obsolete until recently, return to the spotlight as they seem to have great appeal for both foreigners and Greeks.
“Roca Cookery” restaurant, which is located at the old Mykonos port, was the first to introduce Greek Sirtaki dancing on a regular basis. On Tuesday nights, dozens of tourists flock to this restaurant. The reason? They want to enjoy the delicious Greek dishes and dance until they drop to the sound of Greek folk music. Those who are not familiar with the steps of Sirtaki, Zeibekiko and Hasapiko, can learn on site how to dance “Greek style” with the help of instructors!
