Three outposts bordering Russia were abandoned by border patrol in the Ukraine, after coming under attack by separatists. The Ukrainian border patrol has requested reinforcements by the country’s army.

The border guards have been targeted by separatists who have declared a “Democratic Republic” in Luhansk , just like the one in Donetsk. They have suffered continuous attacks since Monday, all throughout Wednesday and Thursday, by heavily armed separatists.

The border guards emphasized that they had identified a “strong terrorist presence” while they stated that their families have been directly threatened. As such, they requested that the cabinet closes down “a number of border checkpoints” as well as their reiteration of their plea to be reinforced by Ukrainian army troops.
