The group oh hackers known as “Anonymous” are believed to have “attacked” various websites related to the World Cup, the Bank of Brazil, and the Brazilian military police.

The self-proclaimed “hacktivists” who claim that they invade websites motivated by a moral movement, started a campaign called “Tangodown” or “ophackingcup” on Twitter.

Anonymous were responsible for invading the website of the Bank of Brazil, the website of the military police and intelligence services. Still, they seem to have also invaded websites of the Brazilian government and certain related financial contributors to the Cup.

The hackers seem to have used their known method of DDoSing, which bombards the central server, creating intense traffic and collapsing the website.
